The CIS web site has a function that allows individuals to ascertain the current processing status of cases pending at CIS service centers.

To use this function, CLICK HERE and you will be taken to the CIS site. When you arrive at the CIS site, you will find several options available to you. Depending upon the option you select, you may:

• Check the status of a matter filed with a CIS service center.
• See the latest processing time reports for the various CIS service centers.
• Subscribe to an e-mail update service that will notify you when the database entry changes the processing status of a particular case pending at a CIS service center.

To use this system it will be necessary for you to know the receipt number of the case in which you are interested. The receipt number appears on the form I-797 receipt notice and uses the following format:

CCC-nn-nnn-nnnnn

Where C represents letters and n represents numbers.
